Part 1

Through the National Trends and Services facet, we work to enhance and empower our communities through sustainable and measureable programs that address the national issues of education, health, leadership, and the general wellbeing of the people we serve. We look to partner and collaborate with other organizations that share our vision to improve the quality of life in our communities.

Part 2

During the 2014-2015 program year, the National Trends and Services Facet of the Bergen County, (NJ) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated engaged in the following programs:

  • Feeding the participants of Project Homeless Connect: Through this project, the County attempts to count the amount of homeless people in the Bergen County. We are pleased to be of service by feeding the participants. This has been an ongoing project for the Bergen County Links for several years.

  • “Wallet Wise”: In three mini sessions, 11th and 12th grade high school students from Englewood’s Dwight-Morrow High School learned about basic financing from a local finance expert. The students were exposed to concepts such as starting and maintaining a checking account, balancing their banking accounts, understating how interest works, and keeping account information secure to avoid fraud.

  • “Healthy Eating”: Changing the eating habits of teens away from junk food and towards healthy foods is particularly challenging. Our mini-session offered teens healthy food alternatives prepared by a professional chef. The students sampled nutritious offerings as well as learned about how to prepare foods that were good to eat, inexpensive and good for them!
